Five on Friday

1.
Happy Halloween weekend!!
I am heading home this weekend to see my favorite fuzzy midget in her annual Sophie Taco costume, see my favorite baby in his minion costume, and hand out candy with mom! I'm sure there will also be candy corn, Hocus Pocus, and football in there as well.

2.
Ellie Goulding released a new single, Army, this morning on Spotify's New Music Friday playlist and no surprise here... I am loving it.
"Because when I'm with you, I'm standing with an army"
These lyrics can apply to so many wonderful people in my life: family, friends. God.

3.
Be sure to check your email this morning if you're a May Designs lover like me. Surprise Halloween gift cards are in your inbox for $5, $10, $25, and $100!

4.
I have wanted to go to the Beer Market in Knoxville since I went to Tennessee and last night I finally got my wish! After work beers on a gorgeous fall night with a giant fire and scary movies on the projector with a good friend >

"Dark nails and light beers"

5.
IT IS SCARF/BOOT/VEST/SWEATER WEATHER!!
I have never been so excited to switch out my closet!

Five on Friday

1.
This is not a drill.
Adele is releasing new music. I repeat. New Adele!
Her new album entitled 25 will be released November 20th but to tie us all over until then there's her single "Hello." The girl has not lost her touch.

I'm in California dreaming about who we used to be. When we were younger and free.
I've forgotten how it felt before the world fell at our feet.

2.
Sweet Caroline Designs is running her entire site 25%!
Her desk calendar will be on my Christmas list for sure this year.

3.
Another new release that I'm loving, One Direction's "Perfect."
The song is supposedly written by Harry Styles regarding his [long list of] ex-lover T-Swift. The video is [dare I say] perfect for the song, super simple and in true 1D fashion lots of tattoos.

4.
There's a new girl in town, Miss Draper James! Reese Witherspoon's lifestyle brand celebrated its store front grand opening this week! You can find the blue and white shop in the 12th South neighborhood. Welcome back to Nashville Draper James girls!

5.
It's the last weekend of October, enjoy it!!

10/14

And I wonder out loud

I was a born planner. Every year, month, week, and day had a plan. Whether it was a class schedule or custom planner stickers that read "Bills", "Client Shoot", and the most recently used "Wedding." I had a plan in high school to be a PR/Ad major at the University of Tennessee and to pledge a sorority. And I did it. I had a plan in college to be accepted into the Ad program, join Ad Club, and get myself on the NYC Ad trip. And I did it. And then life became real life.

I had the plan to win campaigns.
I had the plan to land a job in Charleston, SC.
I had the plan to run the half marathon in two hours.

No matter how many labeled stickers or color coded post-its I used none of those plans would ever work out. Because a better plan was already in place for me. I landed an amazing job in Nashville. A year later I found a house of my own downtown. And a year after that I ran the half marathon in 2:03. And then life became real life.

I had the plan to take every other weekend and travel to Knoxville to make it work with someone.
I had the plan to get my annuals negotiated and placed early.
I had the [now simple seeming] plan to have a pumpkin carving night on my roof patio.

I know there is a greater plan already in place for me but being the type A personality I am I have trouble keeping the faith in it. I get discouraged. I feel sheer terror because some plans are out of my hands. I feel that by changing plans I'm letting down those who constantly support me. This may not be how I saw 25 going but maybe that's the plan now. A month ago my version of being more of an adult was having my own phone plan.

Maybe the Mad Hatter was on to something with his Un-Birthday theory but more like Un-Plan.
Maybe the plan now is to take care of myself, to say No more, to find a job that makes me happy day in and day out, to become the adult I want to be. Maybe Drake was on to something with the "small circle, not with different crews" ideal. And I know my mom was on to something when she told me all those years ago your 20s are the time in your life to be selfish and get to know yourself.
Thank goodness I still have five more years to get to know Caroline and make some un-plans.

Sunday Six

1.
October is in full swing which means a new playlist from Brittany Fuson!
I am loving Hide Away, Bow and Arrow, and The Stranger off October's playlist.

2.
I have gotten sucked back into re-watching Gossip Girl this past weekend since there has been nothing on TV. Which has sucked me back into my love for Blair and Chuck. I personally can't wait to see Ed Westwick on my TV again in Wicked City on ABC. Mark your calendar for October 27th 9 CST.

3.
Friday night I took advantage of a couple hours of downtime and finally got out all my Halloween decorations. Most are from the dollar section of Target last year but my little ghost lights and vases of candy corn make my house a little more festive.

4.
I love Lauren Conrad. I love her style, blog, books, clothes, and outlook on life. I found this quote of her's on Tumblr and think it's a pretty great way to think of things.

"I probably am pretty basic. But I'm also a pretty happy person, so that's ok with me."

5.
Taylor Swift landed to cover of GQ and I cannot wait to ready her piece next time I'm standing in line at the grocery store. Girl is killing it.

6.
If you aren't follow She Reads Truth on Instagram you should be. Their scripture quotes are exactly what every 20-something needs to hear. This was my favorite from the past week and is currently my lock screen, a constant reminder.

Lately

Watching: Scream Queens- FOX Tuesday 8pm CST
This show is absolutely nuts and I am kind of really loving it. Ryan Murphy, the same guy that created Glee and AHS, is the brains behind this quirky mash-up of slasher flick and Clueless meets Heathers on speed.

Eating: Bakersfield [Tacos, Tequila, Whiskey]
The newest addition to the Nashville foodie scene, this taco eatery has open seating, spicy margaritas, and is two blocks down from Bridgestone. Hurry now before everyone else finds out about it.

Smelling: The Autumn Harvest candles are back at Target [and on sale.] White girl pandemonium ensues.

Drinking: Water. Yes, water. We're heading into a change of seasons and the last thing I need is to get sick. Pour me another glass.

Wearing: The perfect fall neutral, Sally Hansen "Pink Pong"

Reading: Jesus Calling.

Listening: The Night We Met- Lord Huron
There are songs that literally speak to your soul within the first ten seconds and this is one of them. The lyrics are beautifully written and I am kicking myself ten times over for not seeing him at LOTG this year.
Take me back to the night we met, and then I can tell myself
I had all and then most of you, some and now none of you.

Loving: The Steelers signed a new kicker, again.

Wanting: These 60 degree days to stick and pumpkins outside my door.
