Oh take me home, let me go all day

So I'm taking a cue from one of the best/most consistent bloggers I follow, Mrs. Lauren Hayes-Watson, and rambling...

I moved home after graduation for what I thought would be a couple months until I found a place downtown and move on with my "grown-up" life, FF to 7 months later...I am still at home and actually loving having this adult time with my incredible parents. I moved into what was the rec room which is like its own little studio apt with full bath above the garage and although it wasn't my blue room with my giant built in shelves it has grown on me, much like being home has grown on me. It's nice to have dinner with mom and dad every night, listening to mom laugh while watching goofy shows like Wipeout, and always having someone to talk football or politics or what whatever celebrity who dad has latched on to their name for the moment did at whatever club last night. It's really easy to brush off our family and forget how valuable their sometimes unwanted love and support can be. This is the first year in a while I haven't had a Christmas list, I'm having a better time scheming picking out and ordering their presents. Christmas is truly about Christ, the savior of the world, coming into this world but it's also about giving to those who you love.

Which brings me to my next ramble... I was talking with one of my favorite #postgradproblem partners in crime, Miss Ashley McCloud, about Christmas presents for friends. I did gift cards for some people this year and while some might think they're not as personal as a present you picked out I think they're great for us 20 somethings. I only have two friends I can actually give their present to them in person because they will be home for the holidays, everyone else is spread out chasing their dreams. It's the thought that counts y'all. Those of my friends who are getting gift cards are getting gift cards to go towards something they're been wanting or the store/brand reminds me of roomie dates we used to have in college. Also, for those of us on a tight Christmas budget, they are SO easy to send in a Christmas card. Friendships are relationships, you have to work to keep them at 100% so if you've got 10 min write a cute little note to them, you have no idea how much it will mean to them when they check mail after having a suck day or maybe even week. Brady Quinn had one of the best press conferences I think I've seen after the Chiefs emotional win last Sunday, if you haven't seen it here's the YouTube clip. I had to DM my little brother they other day to get him to reply to me. GET OFF THE TWITTER. Talk to your friends, send them a little note, call them on the way home from work. It's the Christmas season y'all.

Okay okay I'm done now. But seriously think about it. My mom LOVES fresh flowers so every chance I get I'll pick her up one of the 3 for $12 bouquets from Publix. I will be attempting to set up the Christmas tree while they're still on their get away to Vienna so when they come home it'll be full of Christmas cheer. The saying "it's the little things" really is so true especially during the giving season.
