Tuesday Trending

Plaid has to be one of my favorite prints. Not only because it usually brings fall with it but because it plays so well with others.
Different denims, colors, scarfs, it all goes with a good plaid.
I have a ton of plaid [it's the Catholic school kid in me], fitted/oversized/big check/little check, that I cannot wait to break out. Sarah Vickers at Classy Girls Wear Pearls was giving me all the plaid feels with her most recent post. Here are some other plaid-spirations as well.

Five on Friday

1.
Evelyn Henson released her Fall/Winter Collection of prints this week! These 25 new beauties join her line of journals, phone cases, and coffee mugs. I of course want them all! Thinking the Budding Genius would look great on my desk at the new office.

Budding Genius

2.
#TGIT is back!!
Grey's Anatomy
Scandal
How to Get Away with Murder
And after a lot of Netflix nights I am officially a Gladiator for this season of Scandal!

3.
Ryan Adams released his highly anticipated and hyyyyped cover of Taylor Swift's 1989 album. I am not being over dramatic when I say it is absolutely incredible. I have had it on loop since Monday morning. I love that her song writing is finally getting the admiration it deserves.
A guy friend of mine posted this status this week and it made me love the album and collaboration even more:
"Today is the most excited I've ever been about a musical release. In 2006, Taylor introduced me to Ryan Adams' Easy Tiger album in a Geometry classroom. It was the first time I had ever heard him. Now he is my favorite artist and has changed the way I see everything. 9 years later, he has covered her album 1989. And it's brilliant. I know she is freaking out. What a strange world. Everyone go buy the album."

4.
JCrew Factory has everything 40%-60% off in stores through Tuesday and a special flannel sale online only as well. Fall is here, dress accordingly!

5.
Next week is OCTOBER!
I really need to get on top of monthly recaps over here but monthly to-do lists seem to be easier #postgradproblems. October brings concerts, weddings, W's first Halloween, Dad's birthday, and the beginning of annuals season. Ready, GO!

Ain't waiting on 21 candles

Favorite breakfast food- blueberry bagel with butter microwaved for 30 seconds.
Why? Because me eating a blueberry bagel has been a running joke in my family for exactly 21 years. After all, it was what I was eating when I found out I was going to be a big sister, five weeks early, on September 24, 1994.

My little brother Joe has been the complete and polar opposite of me from the very beginning:  blonde hair, blue eyes, pale skin, tall, good at math and science, can ride a bike without taking out part of the house. But as we've grown up our similarities have begun to shine. We both love eating an entire pizza by ourselves while watching Fantasy Factory before heading to Sonic and laughing our asses off at the answers on Family Feud. We both love screen shots. And lots of them. And sending them to each other. We both love Pittsburgh and the memories we have made there, both on trips with each other and separate. We both love sports. I may love football and he may love hockey but we both love sitting in the family room with a giant fire and swearing at the TV. And we both love our family.

My life changed when I became a big sister. I didn't know it at the time but I was given the greatest gift of all, a sibling who is also a built in best friend. No matter what Joe always knows the right thing to say, even if it's just calling some guy an idiot because I need to hear it. He is one of the funniest people I have ever known and so smart. It is surreal to me that he turns 21 today, he's not the little boy that used to let me steal his Max Steel dolls because they were cuter than Ken. There is some girl out there who is going to get to be his wife one day and while she will have to spell her name multiple times for people she will be one of the luckiest women in the world. I'm the other one because I get to be his big sister.

Happy birthday Jofus.

Red Carpet Round-up: 2015 Emmys

I think Lady Gaga is simply stunning and was so glad to see her simply be herself! The "basic" black dress [with understated detail on the side] with her porcelain skin/classic make-up [aka no blood] knocked this out of the park! Go girl!

I want this dress. Right now. In my closet. The colors are perfection and it looks like it would be so comfortable and have the perfect flow when you walk.

I am not 100% sure what it is about this dress, maybe the colors, but it is my "I weirdly love it" pick for this year's Emmys.

Amy Pohler could have never pulled this look off blonde but with her new amber-ish locks I love it. The chunky stacked bangle bracelets with the side slits are fire.

I love a good "print." The colors along with the unique neckline on this dress paired with the lack of necklace really draws your eyes to it. A++

Dead. Nailed it. No words.
Second year in a row- winner.

Five on [FINALLY] Friday

1.
I have been loving all the pieces coming out of #NYFW especially from my staple obsessions JCrew and Tory Burch. I see that orange coming down the runway Tory! #GBO

2.
Speaking of Tory Burch, mom sent me and awesome article taking readers inside the homes of 25 fashion designers. Tory's living room is to die for and the life size gorilla inside Armani's office is too much in all the right ways.

3.
Evelyn Henson is running her Spring/Summer Collection 25% off through Monday.
So many cute prints for office, home, bathroom, kitchen, you name it!

4.
I'm #TeamEdSheeran all the way but Ellie Goulding's new single is kinda spot on.
you don't mess with love you mess with the truth
and I know I shouldn't say it, but my heart don't understand it

5.
This week has been a test. A test of faith in myself and my faith in general. But when I crawl into bed at the end of the [very long] day I know I am extremely blessed with an amazing life, incredible friends, and the greatest family.

For our battle is not against flesh and blood. Eph 6:12

It was a crisp 55 degrees when I left the house this morning and all the fall feels came swelling up.
Before we know it red cups, chunky scarfs, and space heaters will be here!

Five on Friday

1.
Three letters, P S L
Oh yes, it's back.

2.
New month= new Netflix releases.
Check out all the new September newbies here.

3.
Tonight is finally the Sam Hunt concert!! I wanted to see him when he played Cannery earlier this summer but tickets sold out so fast. So naturally I was ecstatic when Ashley text me with the plan of buying some cheap seats for the Lady A concert and just going for Sam Hunt's set.
we stayed up all night long, made our drinks too strong, we were born and raised on it

4.
Yesterday I got the sweet surprise of an unplanned Mexican lunch date with a certain someone. This week as been trying to say the least, work has been taking it out of me, so an hour of chips and salsa/football talk/and laughing was perfect.

5.

Lately

Watching: I loved the first two seasons of Boardwalk Empire so I was almost giddy to discover Peaky Blinders on Netflix. Cilian Murphy stars as gangster Tommy Shelby in 1900s England. Think The Departed only with different accents.

Eating: Snack Sensation's Veggie and Cheese bites, it's like the adult lunchable, perfect for a late morning snack. I grabbed the carrot, celery, cheese combo. There's also one with apples! What makes them extra delicious? Only $2.99.

Smelling: Method's Desert Lilly foaming hand wash

Drinking: CHAMPAGNE, it's momma's birthday week!

Wearing: Sally Hansen's Jungle Gem Complete Salon Manicure, the perfect fall color.

Reading: Lauren Conrad's issue of Cosmo and Reese Witherspoon's issue of Southern Living. I love both of these women, almost as much as I love a good magazine in the tub.

Listening: The new Mike Posner EP, The Truth. I was introduced to Mike Posner and his Drug Dealer Girl back in 2009 and have loved him ever since.

Loving: FOOTBALL IS BACK. Tailgating last weekend brought all the feels and while I'm slightly terrified I can not wait for my boys in #blackandyellow to take the field tonight!

Wanting: The Entourage Movie DVD comes out September 29th and I can not wait.
Yeah Yeahhhh

Pekarsk-ing Around: Sam Hunt concert tomorrow with my college girlfriend Ashley and a wedding Saturday with a very special someone. Let's see if I can remember to actually take pictures this weekend!

Blow out all the Candles

Today is my incredible mother's birthday.
If you follow me on Twitter or Instagram you may know her as Julie [#lifewithJulie]. Dad calls her Jewel and Joe and I know her as mom. But she's so much more. She's my best friend. There is now way I could ever do her justice with written words. My greatest challenge in life will be striving to be half the woman, mother, friend, Catholic, and wife she is.
Happy birthday to momma, happy birthday to you!

Five on Friday

1.
We have officially entered the first "-ber" month of the year. September is already shaping up to be a very busy but very good month, color coded stickers all over the planner.

2.
College Football is BACK!!!
Western Kentucky kicked things off by beating the awfulness that is Vandy and Tennessee takes on Bowling Green State in Nashville tomorrow! My heart is happy.

3.
Last night was Live on the Green featuring some awesome hometown Nashville bands.
We got there in time for The Delta Saints, fun fact went to high school with their guitarist, and miraculously stayed awake for Moon Taxi to come on at 9:30pm. The weather was amazing, nice little breeze kicked in, the beer was cold and I had my Tennessee blanket. It was a very good night!

4.
Brittany Fuson's September newsletter came out Wednesday and her September Spoitfy playlist is straight fire. I have been playing it non-stop.

5.
IT'S LABOR DAY WEEKEND!
we made it
