I will graduate in 105
days, 8 hours, 40 minutes, and 24 seconds. "When I grow up" no longer
applies to me. I am grown up...even though I've topped out at a
towering 5 feet 2 inches in height! When I was three
years old, my mom drove me to church for my first day of preschool.
Before she could park the car I sternly informed her that I could walk
in by myself. I haven't found an anecdote that sums me up better than
that. I am twenty one years old and hail from
the gorgeous lakeside town of Hendersonville, Tennessee. I have lived
in the same house my entire life. My brother and I were born in the
same hospital room four years apart. With a last name like Pekarsky,
everyone knows who you are. My momma is from
Los Angeles, California and my dad is from Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania,
hence my obsession with the SIX-BURGH Steelers. I was raised in the
south. I say my A's like a northern Yankee and my "y'all"s like
Scarlett O'Hara and I can out talk any boy when it comes
to sports. I will run my first 13.1 mile half marathon in April. To
quote a John Mayer lyric, "I'm bigger than my body gives me credit for."
I am an Advertising major
with double minors in business and psychology. I will graduate "on
time" (in just four years) and today that is a rarity. After graduation
I will pack up my little life and either move
back to Nashville or to Charleston, South Carolina, where I plan to work
for a top advertising agency in media planning. My current internship
as Social Media Manager for Rent the Runway has peaked my
attention toward the areas of social media and brand marketing.
I've always considered myself an obsessive planner, but you know what
they say, "We make plans, God laughs". I have no idea where my future
professional life may take me. The only thing I know for sure is that
checking the Charleston beach weather on my phone
app gets me through those long afternoon lectures.
I am absolutely thrilled
to be in Advertising 490 Social Media during my final semester at the
University of Tennessee. I had never blogged until this past August
when I took control of the Tumblr account for
Rent the Runway at UTK. I may be a rookie in the blogosphere but
plan to throw myself headlong into this blog and make it the best it
can be. My goal is to combine my interests and experience in sports,
travel, and celebrities with social media news
to keep the blog fresh, fun, and entertaining. I plan to keep the blog
going long after graduation as a great way to keep everyone from home
updated on my big girl life in the big girl world of advertising. Look
out world, here I come!
