"I wanted to watch with my dad"

This week's episode of This Is Us was all about Steeler football.
I always tend to geek out when the Steelers are on any show I watch, but this Steeler reference had me in tears, happy tears, but tears. This might be because it had been a rough day when I watched it. But most likely because last weekend was my dad's birthday and he is the man who taught me to love football and the Steelers.

Football is our thing.
We are constantly talking sports, that's mostly what we talk about actually.
We talk shit, we talk injuries, we talk trades, we talk about how much we hate Mike Tomlin.
It's our love language you could say.

In this episode the dad, Jack, is wearing an identical hat to my dad's Steelers ski cap. The whole family is watching the game together waving their Terrible Towels and when they score Jack puts his hat on the daughter, Kate. And that's when I lost it.
There's a picture of me that hangs on my fridge of me in my dad's hat.
I am extremely blessed to have such an incredible father. I don't tell him that enough. And I realize it's sad that it took an episode of a sitcom to make me realize that but such is real life.
There's a framed picture on my desk of dad and I at my first Steeler game at Heinz Field that I look to whenever I'm missing him. I can't wait to take another when we go again in December or to tell him just how much I love him when we talk sports tonight.

Lately: October

Listening:
The new One Republic on repeat, at work, at home, in the car, cannot get enough.
I might have already looked up tour dates for this album [don't get too excited, only LA and NYC have been announced.] I am a lyric geek and this album kills it.
My Top 5: Choke, Fingertips, Heaven, Let's Hurt Tonight, Human.

Watching:
Where do I begin? Fall TV is back and it is glorious.
Here's my current Hulu watchlist: American Housewife, Chicago Fire, Notorious, This is Us, Lucifer, Timeless, Scream Queens, Ben and Lauren: Happily Ever After?, Designated Survivor.

Reading:
Big Little Lies- Liane Moriarty
Sara read Liane's library of books last year and loved them.
Reese Witherspoon is producing the HBO miniseries version of Big Little Lies set to premiere next year and I am pumped.

Wearing:
If you know me at all, you know I'm a mascara junkie. I am that girl that at times has had three mascaras in her makeup bag to get the perfect lashes. My current tube dried out right before a client meeting last week so it was an emergency run to Target. The makeup gods were on my side because I found the greatest mascara ever:  L'Oreal Voluminous Extra-Volume Collagen Mascara.
[all the praise hands]

Loving:
Last week She Reads Truth announced the Advent 2016 study and I absolutely cannot wait for mine to arrive. The girls then one-up'd themselves by releasing The Beatitudes study leading up to Thanksgiving! Right now if you order both you get 20%.
These are studies you'll use over and over!

Celebrating:
Dad's birthday is this weekend!!!
Joe and I might have a surprise up our sleeves [or should I say jerseys.]

Traveling:
Tuesday-Thursday the Sun Tan City team road tripped to Louisville for planning meetings and some fun downtown. You know the client dinner was a success when dessert's a cotton candy horse mane. Only in Kentucky...

You just roll with the punches

The separation was symmetrical
They both retreated to their sides
Drawing lists of demands
And muddy lines in the sand
Trying out their separate lives

Most of the damage was collateral
But still inspired some debate
All the principles of why all the people we love
Are the same as we also can hate

You just roll with the punches
Until you can't feel a thing
You just roll with the punches
Aww yeah

The separation was logistical
Deciding what belongs to whom
How dying love manifests
In a rug or a chest
The decorations of a room

Every promise was negotiable
Most of all the ones they made alone
When she finally forgave
What he'll take to his grave
Learning not to pick up the phone

You just roll with the punches
Until you can't feel a thing
You just roll with the punches
Aww yeah

He starts existing as a miracle
A man of static right behind your eyes
That you filter everything through
Without knowing you do
A past and future synthesized

You just roll with the punches
Until you can't feel a thing
You just roll with the punches
Aww yeah

You just roll with the punches
Until you can't feel a thing
You just roll with the punches
Aww yeah

I wanna see ya workout for me

I like to think of myself as a runner.
I've run two half marathons and am wrapping up my 2016 goal of running a 5K every month.
However, let's be honest... most of the time I'm wearing my "running clothes" to Publix on a Sunday afternoon or on the couch after work. But here's something that can motivate anyone to workout, Jcrew has officially launched their collaboration with New Balance for a full active wear line.

No surprise here, I am seriously loving every piece.
I really like how the collection is laid out with each "category" paired with each model's "My Sport" and "Why I Work Out."
My favorite answer: "to look superbomb naked" [every girl nods her head yes]
Below are some of my favorite pieces from the collection:

I'll be trying to dance with you

When the room don't like us
I'll be at your table
Yeah I'll be sitting next to you
And when the world ain't righteous
It's raining Cain and Abels
I'll be trying to dance with you
Oh everybody feels alive
So just one more time before the morning comes
Oh everybody feels alive
If they're throwing stones at the two of us, two of us

Everyone they say we don't work
But I could swear this is heaven yeah
Everyday I know that this might hurt but I don't care
This is heaven yeah

I couldn't stop couldn't fight this
I didn't come here to change up
Yeah I just want to fan your flame
Well if the young Picasso and the guy that made you
And no one's gonna bring you change
Oh everybody showing the scars
Patchwork hearts lighting up the dark
Love the dark oh yeah

Everyone they say we don't work
But I could swear this is heaven yeah
Everyday I know that this might hurt but I don't care
This is heaven yeah
This is heaven yeah

Oh you don't feel alive now
You say you don't feel alive now
You're looking for heaven yeah
Oh you don't feel alive now
Say you don't feel alive now
You're looking for heaven

Everyone they say that this don't work
But I could swear this is heaven yeah
Everyday I know that this might hurt but I don't care
This is heaven yeah
This is heaven yeah
This is heaven yeah

Five on Friday

1.
Knoxville was lucky enough to have two pop-up Luke's as part of Gilmore Girl's 16th birthday celebration. The line snaked down the sidewalk and wrapped around the corner, so we snuck up for a quick pic [and then back to work.] Only 50 more days until A Year in the Life!

"Where you lead, I will followww"

2.
The Girl on the Train comes out today!
I have been dying to see this movie since I devoured the book on the beach this summer.
Mom's birthday present was her own copy of the book to read on her vacation with a movie date to follow!

3.
ICYMI: My Kind of Lovely teamed up with Bourbon and Bowties to create an orange and white Tennessee football bangle. These pretties are available in both locations!

4.
The Vols are 5-0 and taking on Texas A&M this weekend.
College Gameday is covering the game for a record third time this season.
All the Hail Marys, literally.

5.
This weekend is going to be a whirlwind.
First up, the Food City Food Show Friday and Saturday.
Then Sunday, hanging out with my MKL #girlgang at the Junior League A Shopping Spree event.

Tuesday Night [arm] Party

Last night was a dream.
A gem, stone, sparkle filled dream full of champagne, racks and racks of bangles, and good friends.
Bourbon and Bowties brought their trunk show to My Kind of Lovely Knoxville last night for an awesome event.

CEO and Designer Carley has become great friends with Caroline and Katie and is hands down one of the most genuine and sweet people I have ever hung out with.
I won't like I was fan-girling pretty hard when I pulled up and was instantly greeted by some cute black velvet pants hanging out of the back of a Range Rover with a "hey girl!"
All of the bracelets were stunning and it was so much fun helping girls put stacks together!

After the crowd cleared out it was a blast to hang out with Carley.
She is gorgeous and hilarious!

The orange and white football bangle was exclusively designed by Katie and Caroline in collaboration with Bourbon and Bowties and can be found in both MKL locations!
Another amazing event with this girl gang in the books!

Weekend Recap: 10/1-10/2

This weekend was one for the books, literally the history books. The University of Tennessee hasn't been 5-0 since 1998.  We're back baby!
A group of us met up to watch the game expecting to see a 2nd half rally but never guessed we'd see the epic :04 Hail Mary we got! The place went absolutely insane.
I have never screamed [or jumped up and down like a nut] so much for a football game.
Another week I'm not washing my UTee I guess..

Sunday, Molly and I took on our first 5K of October: [doubling up this month and December] Strides Against Breast Cancer. This was our first walking 5K but don't worry we hoofed it for 3.11 miles, finishing in just under 50 minutes. Now three weeks to train for the Farragut 5K at the end of the month!

This week kicks off an insane month for me, first up Bourbon and Bowties My Kind of Lovely event Tuesday then Luke Bryan Farm Tour Thursday finally the Food City Food Show Friday and Saturday.  Built in cardio, right?
