Five on [thank you Lawd] Friday

1.
New Ed Sheeran, I repeat, New Ed Sheeran.
Well..technically it's new Tori Kelly but Ed wrote the song and appears on it.
No surprise, the song is beautiful and one of my new favorites.

2.
I am a sucker for a well decorated planner. And lucky for me, Ban.do's new arrivals are exactly what every detailed oriented 20-something needs. I am obsessed with their sticker book, I Am Very Busy file folders, and I Did My Best notebook.

3.
Wednesday, I had the great honor of making a day trip to Knoxville to speak to the newest crop of Advertising students about to graduate from THE University of Tennessee School of Ad and PR. It is always a good day when you spend it in the shadow of Neyland Stadium.

4.
Thursday has now become my favorite night of TV thanks to Rookie Blue [ABC 9pm CST] being back for its summer season.

5.
Next Friday we will all be off work and planning out our red, white, and blue for the weekend!

Tuesday Trending

I am that annoying person who is constantly cold.
It is currently a balmy 86 degrees in Nashville this morning and I am drinking warm tea with a space heater under my desk. Yep, constantly cold.
So naturally I have been loving the white jeans/summer sweater combo I've been seeing all over the blogs. A summer outfit that speaks to my soul.

This would be a perfect casual Saturday brunch or Sunday afternoon movie outfit.
No jacket strategically stowed in your purse here!

X marks the spot where we left our hearts

Hilary Duff released her new album Breathe In, Breathe Out this week and I am really loving it. The album as a whole is very pop and light and summery. But you can still tell the girl and her heart went through a lot with her now ex-husband. However, it's a rarity these days to be able to listen to an album straight through. I listened to it a good five times through yesterday, no joke [it's deadline week, judge me], and the title track has to be my current favorite.
But find a favorite for yourself, start with Night Like This and set it on shuffle..
Enjoy.

I remember what I wore on our first date
I remember how you felt against my face
I remember all the songs we used to hate
I remember we were sleepless in New York
I remember how my avenues were yours
I remember when they weren't anymore

No more rain or shine
Well, I guess this is goodbye, I

I made a top ten list
Of all the things I miss
Your lying eyes and lips
They didn't make it
And when I'm cold at night
I know that I'll survive
Until I feel alright
I'm gonna fake it
Breathe in, breathe out

I remember when we had too much to dream
I was hanging on your words like I'm sixteen
I remember being high on your caffeine
I remember when we fell too deep to feel
I remember when the real became too real
I remember when it hurt too much to heal

No more rain or shine
Well, I guess this is goodbye, I

I made a top ten list
Of all the things I miss
Your lying eyes and lips
They didn't make it
And when I'm cold at night
I know that I'll survive
Until I feel alright
I'm gonna fake it
Breathe in, breathe out

"X" marks the spot where we left our hearts in
"X" marks the spot where we fell apart in
"X" marks the spot where we left our hearts in

I made a top ten list
Of all the things I miss
Your lying eyes and lips
They didn't make it
And when I'm cold at night
I know that I'll survive
Until I feel alright
I'm gonna fake it
Breathe in, breathe out

"X" marks the spot where we left our hearts in
"X" marks the spot where we fell apart in
"X" marks the spot where we left our hearts in
I know, I know

My grandmother Betty Jane used to say, "If they're looking at your feet, you're doing it wrong."
And while I strive to live by this, there are some shoes you just can't pass up.
I am loving bright colored or printed strappy heels paired with solid tops and bottoms for summer this year. Clean lines and a pop of color at your feet are a classic look that can go from work to happy hour to the Publix frozen food section.

Five on [last] Friday [being 24]

1.
LILLY PULITZER LAUNCHED AN APP.
And it is absolutely printed perfection.
"It’s your destination for easy Lilly shopping, exclusives (presents, first looks, and secret Palm Beach Lilly lore), stories behind the prints, and stuff to share with your friends (hello, your favorite quotes and fresh printed wallpaper). Pack Lilly with you EVERYWHERE."

2.
Hannibal is back!! [NBC 9pm CST]
I have loved this show from the very first episode (despite the fact I slept with my lamp on).
This season they're starting to incorporate characters in from the movies aka Red Dragon.
Buckle up.

3.
The Entourage Movie was incredible.
My first words out of the theater were "When can I pre-order the DVD?"
I think the only thing better than the movie might possibly be the soundtrack.
My current favorite and staple of my party playlist for this weekend:

4.
It's National Doughnut Day!
You can get your free doughnut of choice at Krispy Kreme all day!

5.
WE ARE 24 HOURS FROM "BIRTHDAY WEEKEND" WITH AMAZING FRIENDS AND A PRETTY AWESOME PARTY!!

"I was Running"

One of my favorite movies is Forrest Gump. I still have the VHS dad got for me when I was five. It's one of the reasons I made him search high and low for a dual VHS/DVD player for my house. Talk about a movie that you watch differently every time as you grow up. I'll always remember mom talking about when she and dad saw it in the theater, the lady behind her laughed the whole time while mom cried. I cry every time too.

Today is National Running Day.
I get emotional when I talk about running because it really has gotten me through so much in life.
I come from a family of runners and was blessed with an Alpino ass to climb those hills.
I ran on and off in high school, ran the first couple years of college to negate the Freshmen 15, and then summer before senior year happened. I made the decision to run the Country Music Half Marathon that spring. I was going to use training to get over the boy who had dumped me. Dad bought me new running shoes [with pink laces], all my friends were 100% behind me, and mom and Joe drove me downtown at 4am and stood with me while I lost it and cried in line for the shuttles. And they were the first faces I looked for at Mile 2 and Mile 4 and Mile 10 and the Finish.

The Runner's High is real and addictive. But the therapy that comes with pounding the pavement and only battling against yourself is unexplainable. Never in my life did I think I would be that person that runs on their off days because I want that mile PR damn it. I have cried while running. I have run home with the sunset. I think running in the rain is one of the most peaceful things on Earth. I've learned you run on good days and you run better on bad days.

My last half marathon I ran with the goal of a 2hr finish time. I was three minutes short.
And I was fine with it.
I had enjoyed the run that day. Heck, I got to run part of Mile 10 with my best friend [greatest moment ever.] I got water and high fives from precious kids in their front yards. And the first person I got to hug was my little brother who had kept me positive while training. It was a damn good run.

One of the hardest parts of being depressed was losing my motivation to run.
But one of my greatest weapons in overcoming depression was running. After all, it's cheaper than therapy right?

Breakup? Go for a run
Got a new client? Go for a run
Lost a client? Go for a run
Sunny and 75? GO FOR A DANG RUN

There's a lot of things in life you can't control but you can always control your pace, breathing, mile splits, and norts color.
Maybe Forrest Gump was on to something that day he just starting running...

I have no clever name for this

My brain is fried.
This is when my girl Sara would blog a cute post like she did last Thursday, her Thursday Four.
I however am not that clever and instead here is a smattering of things I'm crushing on right now:

Brittany Fuson's newest custom print:

Shop Konfetti's precious Southern Belle mug:
