Five on FriYAY

1.
The internet blew up when Reese Witherspoon posted this Instagram shot last night and I will admit I died a little inside from excitment. [cue Colorblind]
also ps they all look exactly the same, #flawless

2.
We are in the single digit countdown for my birthday!!
I have had a blast scouring Target, Party City, and Pinterest putting together my party for next weekend. And while I am super pumped about my giant gold 2-5 balloons I am more excited about dinner with my absolute favorites and finally having a celebration in my sweet house with good friends!

3.
While my #MDW was an absolute turd I did have ample amount of time to get hooked on a new Netflix obsession, Parks and Recreation. 20 minute episodes are the jam and Leslie Knope is out of control and I love it.

4.
I have been working on my 25 Things While 25 bucket list on and off the past couple weeks and am two items away from having it completed. You can follow along through the link on my side bar!

5.
If you had the pleasure of passing me while running this week, I apologize. No run was easy. They all hurt to high heaven with the highlight being almost throwing up on the Church Street bridge Wednesday night. But coming around the corner my sweet little street looked picture perfect and the pink sky was leading me home.

I always like to think my grandparents, dad's best friend, the cats, and God are up in that gorgeous sky.

Now, let's do this weekend thing!

What I'm Watching Wednesday

The worst part of summer: all my dang shows are over!
RIP Revenge and Hart of Dixie.
See you not soon enough Chicago Fire, Grey's Anatomy, HTGAWM.
Hurry up Hannibal!

So this installment of What I'm Watching Wednesday is all movies, get excited.

Memorial Day Weekend was a huge bust but silver lining, I got to finally see American Sniper at mom and dad's Saturday night. Bradley Cooper is absolutely amazing [that accent is on point.] Sienna Miller gives one of her best performances. And I now have two more books on my Must Read List: American Sniper and American Wife. It was hard for me to watch because you know how it ultimately ends and the credits with the real footage of his funeral are heart breaking. The world needs more men like Chris Kyle.
and yes, the fake baby is that bad.

Last night I finally used my Redbox credit I had been saving for weeks to rent Two Night Stand with Miles Teller [swoon] and Analeigh Tipton. I am in absolute lust with Miles Teller and loved Analeigh Tipton in the short lived ABC sitcom Manhattan Love Story [RIP.] Put two NYC singles who met on a dating site, one epic blizzard, one broken window. one clogged toilet, and one very sexy strip tease demonstration by Miles Teller together and you have Two Night Stand. I would have paid the $1.50 for this movie.

Finally, ONE WEEK TILL THE ENTOURAGE MOVIE!!!

Hello 8am showing!

Tuesday Trending

I am a self proclaimed monogram-aholic.
It's fine.
I am open about my addiction.
Which is why I write this post with no shame.

In Newww York

If you've ever scrolled through my blog for at least 30 seconds you know how much I love some Brittany Fuson Paper. I have met Brittany countless times at pop up shops or Christmas Market and she is as precious as her prints. She's currently in NYC being fabulous and has been instagram-ing the cutest shots of her illustrations in their natural habitat.

I have loved scrolling through Instagram and seeing theses beauties pop up on my feed.
If you don't follow Brittany now you have six more reasons!
And don't forget to check out her website, she uploads new prints all the time.

Forget Empire State of Mind, I'm in the Brittany Fuson State of Mind.

Between Me and You

Tuesday.

Lord, where do I begin?
The only day worse than Monday.
I'm superstitious about two things: the number 7 and Tuesday.

Then I found the New Music Tuesday playlist on Spotify.
I was given a reason to drag my butt out of bed on this dreaded day.
I have found some of my current favorites thanks to this gem of a playlist.
Like:

Brandon Flowers [yes, the Brandon Flowers of The Killers] -Between Me and You

Maroon 5- This Summer's Gonna Hurt Like a Mother

Of Monsters and Men- I of the Storm

Death Cab for Cutie- Black Sun

Florence + the Machine- What Kind of Man

The playlist updates every Tuesday morning [sometimes they cheat and add songs early at like 10pm Monday] and stays for the entire week. And you can "follow" the New Music Tuesday playlist so you never miss any new songs. Now I'll leave you to the music..

Love from Maine

Last night pretty much my favorite band ever, The Maine, was in town so in honor of that I listened to their entire library all day. Right Girl [acoustic] will always be my favorite, that Catholic girl shout out has my heart. But yesterday I found a close second, Good Love
I feel like these lyrics have been written on my heart the past couple months.
Eight years later and these boys are still singing the soundtrack to my life.

Tossing coins down the wishing well,
Don't fall in now, it leads straight to Hell,
I need you closer, need you beside me,
Good Love will find me, Good Love will find me,
The coffee's cold and it still works cold,
So do the highs but you always end up alone,
So no more lying and no more fighting,
Good Love will find me, Good Love will find me,

Tossing coins down the wishing well,
Don't fall in now, it leads straight to Hell,
I see the fire, it's almost blinding,
Come out and find me, come out and find me,
So fuck your coins and I wish you well,
(Ahhh it feels good, don't it?)

Good Love will find me, Good Love will find me

Good love will find me.

Advice to my rookie self

In honor of my college graduation, what seems like a mind blowing, three years ago here are some tricks to navigating this post-grad life thing I wish someone had blogged for me..

1.
Invest in a good purse.
Believe me I love that pink Michael Kors purse just as much as the white girl next to be, but stay color neutral. Neutrals can go with any outfit.
Make sure this bag can go to a client meeting , brunch with the girls, or Target on a Wednesday night.
A segmented bag is best, being able to slide your laptop or work to take home is key.

2.
Your office is not an episode of Hart of Dixie, Sex and the City, or Gossip Girl.
You do not have the budget to have a different outfit/statement necklace pairing every day.
Invest in some good staple pieces in classic colors.
Wait for sales. JCrew Factory is your friend. Put together an 'arm party' that can compliment any outfit.

3.
Keep a notepad/notebook and pen strapped to your body at all times. If you get called to a co-worker or your boss' office, have that notepad with you. Write everything down. Once a notebook is full, label it and save it. Notes will always come in handy!

4.
Be early. If you're on time, you're late.
Be the first one in the conference room for a call or meeting.
Get to the office 10 minutes early. You'll have your tea/coffee brewing, email loaded, and bearings by the time everyone gets in.

5.
There's the saying "there is no such thing as a dumb question."
I hate to be the bearer of bad news, but there is.
Don't get me wrong asking questions is a great way to show your boss or superiors what you're thinking. But, before you ask your question try and research it or figure it out on your own. Use your resources: email, notes, client folders.
When you're briefed on an assignment, before the meeting breaks, make sure you get the bullet points nailed down [due date, demographic, budget, rating books to use.]

6.
We are all going to have less than amaze days. Sometimes you will have an all around crap week. It happens.
However, do not let this affect your attitude. Do not take whatever is going out on co-workers.
People will notice.

7.
Don't ever let anyone make you feel 'bad' about working late or taking work home or coming in on weekends. [first make sure you're working to get ahead not caught up..] You can only get ahead by going the extra mile.

8.
To-Do Lists will become your very best friend. Write everything down, even the "little" tasks.
You will find the best feeling is checking things off.

9.
This might be my favorite and it may seem dumb but when you work your first 12 hour day you'll understand: make your desk somewhere you want to be. Buy the cute $1 file folders in the Target grab section, have pictures on the wall of your family and friends [and pets], your papers will look a lot more 'fun' if they have pink post-it notes.

10.
Remember, it's a job. It's not your life.
As someone once told me, there's no statue of you in the parking lot.

Now go forth and take on that 9am meeting, 1pm conference call, and countless client emails like a champ.

Five on [one month till 25] Friday

I have been on and off with Five on Friday posts lately but I woke up excited to write one this morning!

1.
I am one run closer to that coveted 7 minute mile after another PR last night. I had planned on taking the night off after running M-W but this weather has been absolute runner's paradise.

2.
Mother's Day is Sunday! And in case your mom is like mine and has given strict instructions not to spend any money on her this year [not even a card] Evelyn Henson has got you covered with three precious printables. Best part, they're free!

3.
Reese Witherspoon launched her Southern lifestyle site Draper James on Tuesday and all I can say is, oh my gosh y'all. While the clothing is out of this girl's budget the lifestyle peices and editorials are wonderful!

4.
Lilly Pulitzer's summer line has fully launched and I am obsessing over the Scuba to Cuba print.
It may be both my work and home computer backgrounds..

5.
ONE MONTH TIL MY 25TH BIRTHDAY!!

Thursday Trending

Yes, I'm gonna give this style themed posting another shot. I absolutely love style right now as you can see on my Tumblr and feel like I am just beginning to really tailor my personal taste and fashion sense. As a 5'2, usually, size 0 there are some trends I can love and then let go of all hope of ever pulling off. The jumpsuit used to be one of those..

..until Kylie found a precious black and white [staple colors in any closet] summer jumpsuit on the clearance rack at Target. For $13 [with a gift card] I could give this a shot. And hellooo new obsession. Then the Lilly new arrivals email came through this morning and boom jumpsuit as a featured piece. So it's official, I am a jumpsuit junkie.
I am adoring these leggy summer staples.
