Five on [a spooooky] Friday

1. HAPPY HALLOWEEN!
this is halloween this is halloween
The media girls decided get our mushroom jumping on and be Mario Kart for Halloween.
Rachael as Yoshi has to be my favorite.

2. In honor of this spooky Friday, Sonic has $.50 corn dogs all day and Chipotle has $3 bowls and burritos after 5pm if you're in costume!
I know what I'm having for lunch and dinner.

3. While I was semi-heartbroken that we don't have any trick-or-treaters in our building I was more than willing to house sit for mom and dad this weekend and take over candy duty with Sophie tonight! Maybe Sophie Taco will even make an appearance.

4. Just in time for this cold weather JCrew Factory is offering an additional 31% off AND free shipping in honor of Halloween. Post grad Trick or Treating?

5. And finishing up this 5 on Friday with a musical number

Now go get your spooky on!

Jack-o-lantern Smile

Last night was what every white girl dreams of, a pumpkin carving date night.
I have always thought this was a precious date night idea and it always helps to have a boy involved with activities that involve knives.
I had my heart set on doing a monogram pumpkin, and not just painting it but carving it [too legit to quit.]
I made my stencil at lunch yesterday and grabbed a carving kit from Party City.

So, apparently it's harder to carve a monogram than it looks online.
But we would not give up until it looked "perfect", bless it.
And I have to say, I think it turned out pretty damn well.

Now onto perfecting my costume for Friday!
this is Halloween, this is Halloween

Front Porch Philosophies

So in case you live under a rock, TSwift's dropped her new album 1989 yesterday.
And I will admit, it is damn good.
Sara's blogging all about it today so hop on over and get the full scoop on The Heart of Life is Good!

But, while TSwift was dancing around Targets, Sam Hunt quietly dropped his new album Montevallo and there aren't enough words for the feels I have going on listening to it.

I blogged about his Acoustic Mixtape a couple weeks ago and there are a couple tracks fleshed out from it on Montevallo, some should have been left more acoustic in my opinion [cough Speakers cough.] Then there's his cover of Cop Car which sounds like a completely different song but is so so good at the same time. But the overwhelming favorite is Take Your Time.

And I know your name
Cuz everybody in here knows your name
And you're not looking for anything right now
So I don't wanna come on strong
But don't get me wrong
Your eyes are so intimidating
My heart is pounding but
It's just a conversation
No girl I'm not gunna waste it
You don't know me
I don't know you but I want to

I don't wanna steal your freedom
I don't wanna change your mind
I don't have to make you love me
I just want to take your time

I don't wanna wreck your Friday
I ain't gunna waste my lies
I don't have to take your heart
I just wanna take your time

You seriously can not go wrong with any track on this album.
House Party
Speakers
Make You Miss Me
Single For The Summer

Yesterday was just too much music to handle but in the best possible way.
Praise be!

Five on [a Fall] Friday

1. It's Friday.
Thank you lawd. This week has been a test.
My DVR is full to the brim with my favorite shows [AHS, Grey's, How to Get Away with Murder.]
I'm coming for you couch.

2. I am back to a solid two miles a couple times a week and it has never felt better.
But with colder weather coming I've got to not only switch my breathing but my attire.
Good thing Target has their C9 gear on sale!
AND free shipping.

3. Speaking of Target, I'm going to embrace my inner "basic"ness for a hot minute and obsess over a candle. Target's Autumn Harvest candle is everything. Even the Jimmy John's man commented on how good our office smells. $10 candle for the win.

4. This weekend is the Nashville flea market!
There are always hidden gems and awesome deals to be found.
And if you for some reason can't find anything you want but don't need, the people watching is pretty top notch too.

5. #goldmember
Working all those weekends was worth it. Hello gold card.

Happy birthday to You

Today is my incredible dad's birthday.
There aren't enough words to sum up how amazing he is and what a wonderful father and role model he is for me and Joe.
So pictures will just have to do.

I love you daddy.
Happy Birthday!

Too Catholic To Function

If you don't follow @catholicgrlprob you are missing out [even if you're not Catholic, this girl is hilarious.] Catholic Girl Problems launched her Etsy shop this morning and I am seriously in love with all of it. The prints have to be my favorite thing and am already picking out spots in my house for them. These are a couple of my favorites:

That's What Confession is For Gold Foil Print

I Can't...I Have Mass Gold Foil Print

Too Catholic to Function Gold Foil Print

These would also be the perfect present for mass buddies or Catholic mommas like Julie.
I added this shop to my Favorites as soon as I saw the first print and will be ordering not just for me but for Christmas/birthdays/Easter as well! #catholicgirlproblems

Life Lately

I'm slacking on posts. I'm slacking on a personal life too, it's fine.
So here's a peek into my life lately via Instagram.

Finally finished The Best of Me and got my prints on the wall

[filtered] Picture Perfect

My best friend Sara, The Heart of Life is Good, sent me this blog post from Struggle Pretty last week and it is absolutely wonderful. It gives a great two sided perspective of couples who look picture perfect on social media. I've linked the entire post above but wanted to highlight the paragraphs that speak directly to us single people.
We are all guilty of doing this, whether we like to admit it or not...

"One, for all you singles out there who watch engagement videos and see wedding pictures and are waiting for your blissfully in love days, free of the frustration and anger and stubbornness. You should be aware of the reality ahead of you. If only you knew the amount of bad pictures it took to get the one that is actually posted on Instagram. Make a decision to see Instagram and Facebook and twitter posts for what they (sometimes) are…a beautiful moment between two sinners where Jesus meant more than their own agendas. You’re getting a glimpse into the life of two people who are trying to love each other well despite their own baggage and sin and pain. REJOICE in that with them. Pray for them.  And recognize that their entire relationship most likely does not, in fact, resemble the picture you’re seeing of them….and that’s ok.

So let’s all just stop assuming things about each other and instead, rejoice. Rejoice in our short-coming. Rejoice in our victories. Rejoice in the picture that shows two sinners having a good date night. Rejoice in the likelihood of those same sinners working through an argument 20 minutes later. Rejoice in the struggle, because when we choose to rejoice, the struggle becomes pretty."

That last line rings so clearly.
Sara had an amazing post last week about marriage, and while I may not be married or even close these are amazing guidelines to use in any relationship or even friendship. I absolutely love "7. Toilet Paper." I've been single for a good while now but as I enter back into the dating mindset both Struggle Pretty and The Heart of Life is Good will be wonderful resources to help me out!

Five on Friday

1. THE BEST OF ME COMES OUT TONIGHT!
I am so excited to go see it tonight with Sara and Jordyn. I literally finished the book in two days.
So many good movies coming out this month!

2. Sunday is "Fall Fun with Wreaths" media girls days at Sarah's house. I have no idea what I'm crafting but we always have a blast no matter what we're doing!

3. In case you missed my post yesterday, Sam Hunt's Acoustic Mixtape is everything.
Speakers is the perfect fall love song.

4. Tennessee plays [the undefeated, goal post destroying] Ole Miss Saturday night.
#shocktheworld #GBO

5. One of my favorites Ashley Brooke released her "Everyday I'm Hustlin" travel mug today and I am so excited! The coffee mug version is a staple piece on my desk at work. Check out her full online shop here.

Speakers

Sam Hunt.

I would Leave the Night On with him any day of the week.

I literally stumbled across his new Acoustic Mixtape on Spotify this morning and I have had it on repeat all afternoon.

Every song is sweeter than the next.
From making sure your ex sees him kissing you, to having a house party in your sweats because you don't feel like going out, to [my favorite] back of the truck/ tailgate down/ just us/ and the speakers on.

Sam Hunt, you're on fire.

#obsessed

It may technically be the fall season but when it hits 80 by lunch time fall puffer vests have to be put on hold. So instead I've been re-blogging every fall outfit I see on Tumblr these past couple weeks.
They will serve as great outfit inspiration once the temperature catches up with my fall decor.

Five on [slight chance of rain] Friday

1. American Horror Story #AHSFX is back!!
The new season, Freakshow, premiered Wednesday night and I must say I'm intrigued.
I had heard mixed reviews from friends but I definitely think it has potential to pick up steam the next couple episodes.
Also Evan Peters is hot, lobster hands or not

2. The Best of Me comes out next weekend!
I have become a Nicholas Sparks fan girl all thanks to Sara and am marathon reading this one so I'm ready for premiere weekend!

Next up is The Longest Ride [Sara's favorite], I can't wait!

3. HAPPY BIRTHDAY JCREW FACTORY!
In honor of their birthday, 50% off Men and Women's and 40% off Boys' and Girls' online and in stores!
Now if only they were buying.

4. This week I finally Fall-ified my porch!
I kept my Halloween contained to inside [since we don't have any trick-or-treaters] but my front door needed some Fall love.
Home Depot has huge mums for $18 and mini pumpkins for $3 each!
[big pumpkin from Publix for $6]

5. Believe it or not 2015 is just around the corner!
And I already have fun things to get in my planner for next year.
I was on and off the fence about planners but after meeting Brittany Fuson a couple weeks ago I decided to go with her adorable planner for this coming year!

I'll give sneak peeks of her precious full month prints or you can order one for yourself here!

Stay dry this weekend!

My life chord

After joining the post grad world, I quickly learned to always have an extra phone cord on you. I always have a car charger and it has saved my butt more than once.
So, when my Starbucks split down the side and flooded my cup holders and front console of my car I was down a car charger. Off to Target I went on lunch. $30 later I had a new car charger, that then stopped working three days later. Awesome.

Luckily I was house sitting for my parents that coming weekend and Red Tulip Gifts [one of my favorite home boutiques] had just gotten in the new Lilly Pulitzer phone chords.

Not only is this chord absolutely precious BUT it's five feet long. Yes, double the length of a normal Apple iPhone chord. Lilly has Target beat on price too, $18, and it comes in two prints!

Once again, Lilly for the win.

I love a good anniversary

Today marks my one year anniversary with Whitehardt.
I now could not imagine life without these girls.

Five on [I actually took a vacation day] Friday

1. It's October 3rd.

2. GONE GIRL CAME OUT LAST NIGHT!!
I made it a goal to re-read the book [for the third time] before seeing the movie.
And last night I finished it with an hour and three minutes before the 10pm premiere.
I haven't been this excited for a movie since Something Borrowed.

3. It is officially time to start decorating for HALLOWEEN!!
Baby Kress: dancing mummy, black roses, ghost lights. CHECK
The office: light up haunted house, candy corn, bloody hand prints on the windows, 700 pumpkin spice candles. CHECK
I have two costumes this year [one group, one individual] and I can not wait to show them off. I don't think I've been this pumped for Halloween since I was Belle.

4. Our cousins are in the country on their honeymoon!!
Mom and Dad are up in the mountains with them now, so I get to spend a long weekend with the tiny diva herself, Sophie [she even helped me write this post this morning.]

5. IT'S FLORIDA WEEKEND!!
I have my orange Nike shorts and Vols Volunteer Traditions tee packed and ready.
There will be Zaxby's takeout and hopefully lots of THIRD DOWN FOR WHAT.
GO VAWLS!
Football season at the University of Tennessee
