Weekend Recap: 9/27-9/28

Yes, I am actually posting a weekend recap.
Well it's mostly pictures but A for effort, right?

Saturday I laid in bed till about 9am, partly because I had already cleaned out my DVR the night before. #shameless
Don't worry I wasn't up for long, I promptly sat my butt on the couch for an episode of E! News Weekend before getting ready for Maureen's birthday brunch down in Franklin.
The Vols lost a heart breaker to Georgia but we had bottomless mimosas and a waiter that kept them coming.

After brunch I immediately passed out [face down, make up still on] for an apparently much needed snooze. Since babysitting plans got canceled I decided to head to mom and dad's for pizza and Outlander [they are hooked.]
Sunday dad and I detailed the cars before voluntarily submitting ourselves to the torture that is watching the Steelers lose at home to an 0-3 team in the last :07 seconds.
Good news, 4-0 in Fantasy.

But today is a new day and more importantly SARA COMES BACK FROM FLORIDA!!
So let's do this thing!

Friday 9/26

Five on Friday, Friday [gotta get down on Friday]

1. If Shondaland was a real life amusement park I would have my birthday there every year.
Grey's is back y'all along with her new addictive show How To Get Away with Murder.
Can you say obsessed already?
obsessed already

2. I am a closet One Direction fan thanks to Sara and Rock Me [this song is us and the summer of 08 to a T] so when I heard this song I instantly thought it was them.
I was wrong. And I'm glad I was because now I know 5 Seconds of Summer,

3. After three weeks off with a bum knee [this is what happens when your high school XC coach has you run in grass] I was finally back on the pavement last night. 1.5 miles never felt so good!

4. Revenge is back Sunday night and it looks like Victoria is taking a stab [literally] at being a bad bitch this season. I kinda love it.

5. This precious birth announcement arrived in my mailbox this week and it warms my heart. Dr. Childers is the reason I started blogging and has guided me though this crazy journey of post grad life.

My fridge is filling up more and more with Save the Dates and baby announcements and I am kind of loving it.

6. Sara comes back from Florida!! I've missed the heck out of her!

Happy last weekend of September, enjoy it!

Sip.Eat.Shop.

One of my New Year's Resolutions was to explore Nashville more.
There's the quote you see floating around with the little circles illustrating all the fun things happen outside your comfort zone, well it's true.
Last night was so much and to think a year ago I would have come up with some excuse not to go [I'm an idiot I know, I'm working on it.]

Knowing there would be tons of pictures taken, I ran home on lunch to get some mascara on these lashes and re-curl my hair [you can never have enough hairspray in the south.]
After work I blew down 21st to Davishire Interiors to Sip.Eat.Shop with my little LA transplant Courtney, Sweeter than Style.
This was definitely my kind of event; white wine, jewelry, clothes, and of course Brittany Fuson.
We sipped and shopped and yacked, the perfect mid-week wind down.

Let me be the first to tell you, Brittany Fuson is as precious as her prints.
She is the absolute sweetest and I loved that her mom was there too!
Such an awesome fall night and amazing event!

Twenty years

Twenty years ago I was just trying to eat a blueberry bagel in peace when my little brother Joe decided to make his entrance into the world...

..that was the day I became "Sissi."

And I have cherished every day since
[even the days when my head has been split open, the milk has not been replaced in the fridge, he decides to channel his inner Ariel for a 30 minute shower, or he decides to switch cars around in the driveway for no reason.]

I have a lot of titles in life but Big Sister is my favorite.
Happy birthday Joe!

Fall y'all!

This morning I packed up the bronzer and broke out the blush.
Hocus Pocus was on last night.
I have no AC running in my house.

It is officially FALL!

To quote my brilliant mother, "drink something pumpkin and enjoy this gorgeous fall day!"

And this coming Wednesday the 24th you can meet her beautiful self and indulge in her precious prints!

Brittany's part of Sip.Eat.Shop hosted at Davishire Interiors from 6:30-8pm, the perfect after work wind down!

Hope to see you there!

Weekend with Sophie

Gah, I have seriously been slacking in my weekend updates.
Something always seems to explode in the office on Mondays and lunch breaks have been used for errands and grocery shopping more than blogging these past couple weeks.
But this Monday was a must blog because someone's cute face is taking over the blog for the day.
I give you: Weekend with Sophie

We went walking [and met lots of nice little soccer players]

Then got necessities for the weekend

We took lots of naps and watched two seasons of Entourage [Sophie's favorite is Turtle.]

Sunday it was game day and we were matching in our Steeler gear.

But don't worry we got in one more walk before kick-off [and Mom and Dad got home.]

I have trained her well, monogrammed Steelers tervis for after walk panting.
Then mom and dad came home and I was chopped liver.
not really.
I love my weekends with Sophie and can't wait for my next little vacation to River Chase!

Now onto Monday!

Five on [a well deserved] Friday

1. I was SO thrilled to see on my timeline yesterday that my favorite Emily Giffin submitted the script for Something Blue THE MOVIE!!

I of course shared, commented, and tagged Sara.
After all, our birthdays were Emily Giffin themed!

2. My very own Lauren Conrad/L.A. FIDM transplant Courtney Sims finally started a sweet blog, Sweeter than Style. I just love her!

3. Speaking of my girl LC, her stunning wedding is in Us Weekly and it is taking all of my self control to save it for the back deck this weekend.

This week's issue of Us Weekly

4. I am house/Sophie sitting this weekend and after a long week of audits I can't think of a better way to spend it. Sophie already "texted" me her list of activities.

5. ATTN: Mums are on the cover of Southern Living this month aka it is officially fall in the South!
[also Sally Hansen is BOGO at Walgreens this week and fall colors are out!]

So keep your head up and make it to me

I have come to love audit week and late nights in the office.
A- it's quiet and peaceful
2) I always end up finding the best music

I've had a little inner turmoil going on this week and this song absolutely spoke to me.
It's like I knew the lyrics by heart before the song was even over.
Hopefully it'll strike a chord with your heart too.

My mind runs away to you
With the thought I hope you'll see
Can't see where it's wandered to
But I know where it wants to be

I'm waiting patiently though time is moving slow
I have one vacancy and I wanted you to know that

You're the one designed for me
A distant stranger that I will complete
I know you're out there we're meant to be
So keep your head up and make it to me
And make it to me

So sick of this lonely air
It seems such a waste of breath
So much that I need to say
So much to get off my chest

I'm waiting patiently though time is moving slow
I have one vacancy and I wanted you to know that

You're the one designed for me
A distant stranger that I will complete
I know you're out there we're meant to be
So keep your head up and make it to me
Make it to me

We keep this love in a photograph

I was worse than a kid on Christmas morning Saturday.
Why?
IT WAS FINALLY ED SHEERAN DAY!!

What's better than seeing one of your absolute favorite artists with your best friend?
Um, getting mexican [and margs]/catching the first part of the Tennessee game at Honky Tonk/laughing so hard your abs are still sore on Monday/taking your shoes off and dancing to every song?
YUP.
Pretty much.

Ed Sheeran is one of the most incredible performers.
The man sounds absolutely AMAZING live.
Sara and I talked about it the entire walk back to my house and still could not get over it Sunday.
The stage was simply Ed and his guitar and I didn't want it to ever end.

We sang and danced and bonded with the 15 year old best friends sitting next to us.
It really was one of the best nights ever with one of the best friends ever.

This real life thing is hard; and when work and life takes over you don't get to see your best friend as much as you'd like to.
Saturday I was reminded how lucky Sara and I are to have each other and as strong of a friendship as we do.

We keep this love in a photograph
We make these memories for ourselves
Where our eyes were never closing
Hearts were never broken
And time's forever frozen still

Another 5 on Another Friday

1. Swoozies released Lilly Pulitzer's fall accessories on Wednesday and I want them all
Candles and tumblers, these are a few of my favorite things!

2. We are going into Week 2 of fantasy football and I am 1-1 [dang you work league]. Not too shabby.

3. I finally GET to see my ginger haired voice of angel soulmate tomorrow, ED SHEERAN, with my brown haired hilarious best friend soulmate Sara!! Hold me back, I may rush the stage! [get ready for Instagram to blow up]

4. In case you live under a rock, Gilmore Girls is coming to Netflix.
Prepare to binge ladies!

5. One of my favorite bloggers, History in High Heels, is also an amazing artist.
She released this precious print to get in the mood for Fall.
I for one have it on my office wall and am ready for chunky sweaters.

Stay dry this weekend y'all!

Brittany Fuson Paper

One of my favorite parts of mom's birthday present was a precious print from Brittany Fuson Paper.
I've blogged about Brittany and her fabulous designs before in my Five on Friday posts
I discovered this Brentwood beauty at the Christmas Market this past winter and have loved her ever since.

I have a huge open wall in my bedroom and have been trying to figure out what to do with since I moved in last April. I think some of Brittany's prints would be an excellent addition to any gallery wall [or open bedroom wall.]

These are some of my favorites!

And the chic doesn't stop at prints!
There are notecards, folded cards, notepads, and luggage tags!
Be sure to give her a look, and stop by her booth at Christmas Market this coming year [she also designs the precious t-shirts for it every year.]

An ode to Julie

Today is my sweet momma's birthday.

The woman who buys you a weeks worth of groceries just because "the things you like were on sale" and then tells you not to buy her anything for her birthday.

The woman who is a native California girl and roots with all her heart for the Steelers, Pirates, Pitt, Penguins [and I've heard her yell a Go VOLS every now and then.]

The woman who has had a homemade dinner on the table every night of my life, even when I randomly show up. And sends me home with enough leftovers to feed a small army.

The woman who makes me laugh and cry all with one simple emoji text.
"There's a rainbow in your heart"
"My favorite pirogi's the one with the purse"
"Do you want a small refrigerator? We have one."

The woman who has given me such a wonderful example of an incredible Catholic woman and mother [my kids will be lucky to have her as their "Julie" one day.]

The woman who is excited for my future and hopeful for all my happiness-es more than I am sometimes [er, most of the time.]

There simply aren't enough words to describe what an amazing woman my mother is.
And she will probably see this blog post three weeks from now.
She is the woman that gave me up for Lent [and I now thank her for that] and never gave up on me when I gave up on myself.
She's my Julie and I love her.
Happy birthday momma!
