I blogged a couple weeks back my favorite bloggers' desk looks, here are some of my pretty picks!
Happy Hump Day!

5 on Friday

We made it! We conquered another week!
I've been slacking on my 5 on Friday posts but this morning it was the first thing on my to-do list [after touching up my nails, of course.]
So without further a-do,

1. I am SO very excited for my first blowout tonight. Sara signed us up last month and I can not wait for some hair-apy and Mexican after!

2. This week was my first week back training since my half marathon in April. I am guilty of using work as an excuse, but I am back on the wagon and it feels so good [aka sore.]

3. Drum roll please, there is an Ed Sheeran cover of Sam Smith's "Stay with Me."
Yes it is incredible. And yes the countdown is already on for Sara and I to see him September 13th!

4. I re-discovered the classic "messy" braid this week and am loving it!

5. Steelers training camp starts today!! #blackandyellow

come on friends, get up now

"Bastille" Pandora literally saved my life [aka motivation] last week.
Silver lining of a 13 hour work day? You find some really good songs.

Greg Laswell.
That's all I'm gonna say.

His entire three flights from alto nido album is amazing but this song has to be my favorite.
The lyrics are exactly what we all need to hear sometimes, usually more than we'd like to admit.

"Comes and Goes (In Waves)"

This one's for the lonely, the one's that seek and find
Only to be let down time after time
This one's for the torn down, the experts at the fall
Come on friends get up now you're not alone at all

This one's for the faithless, the ones that are surprised
They're only where they are now regardless of their fight
This one's for believing if only for it's sake
Come on friends get up now love is to be made

This is for the ones who stand
For the ones who try again
For the ones who need a hand
For the ones who think they can

MARGARITAAAAAH Monday

This is a White Girl PSA going out to all my #marg loving ladies:
Chipotle now has margaritas!

In true Chipotle fashion, you have two options when it comes to your MARGARITAAAH: Patron or Sauza tequila. Tiernee and I went with the Sauza [a $4.50 vs. a $7.50 price point] and it was just as good as a top shelf margarita in my opinion. We sucked those things down in no time.
Two things to be aware of before you run off and plan a girls night, be sure to make sure your friendly neighborhood Chipotle has a liquor license [if they have beer behind the counter, you should be good to go] and you can't take your #margs outside to patio seating.
Other than that, what's not to love about this addition to their already yummy menu?!
The addiction is real.

Weekend Recap: 7/19-7/20

After this past week I was ready to stay vertical for 48 hours and binge watch whatever the heck was on TV, and it's safe to say I was successful at just that.
Friday night I met up with some of the girls at Whiskey Kitchen since we hadn't seen each other since Morgan's wedding. I had two Blue Moons for dinner and it was magical [and well deserved, if I do say so myself.]

Saturday I did my best to sleep in aka 8am. I made it through a Graceland DVR episode before mom texted me asked if I wanted to do some shopping with her, lunch included. How could I pass that offer up?
Mom got bedding and the bug got a new [and much needed] sticker!

Saturday night I crashed on the couch with the new Lifetime movie and a Chili's microwave bowl [so good, btw.] Sunday I woke up laughing after having one of the most vivid dreams I've had in a long time,

Don't worry she already promised she'll take my wedding day as an "off" day.
Now onto this week, after last week I feel like I can take on the world [or maybe just 19 TV markets.] !

Friday 7/18

This week has been a test.
I have never in my professional career pulled a 13 hours day at the office, until yesterday.

Yesterday, I was going to tweet, in regards to my love[less] life, that I'm personally pretty damn proud of myself for all I've accomplished as a 24 year old and all I want is someone to share that with.
And then I stopped and thought about all the texts and messages and Facebook posts from my amazing friends that came through the past four days.
Wednesday night I spent the night with mom in Hendersonville, just sitting and talking and laughing [and swearing.]
So I do have someone, actually lots of someones, to share this crazy ride with.

I found this while late night Tumblr-ing and it's absolutely beautiful.
Always remember our God is an awesome God.
And He is always mightier than whatever waves you're treading.

Home away from Home away from Home

After working late the past couple nights, I was eyeing the stack of manual invoices at one end of my desk and my calendar at the other. The executive decision had to be made to come into the office this weekend.
As most post grad warriors know, your desk/office becomes your home away from home.
And that is why I am a-okay with spending $10 on an Anthropologie mug to hold my Sharpies.
Some of my go-to bloggers have been sharing their desk views this week, here are my favorites:

The wonderful Emily Ley

The amazing Shop Dandy

The precious Keystone Prep

What fun trinkets adorn your desk!?

She's a Tease

Summer in the South has its own unique set of problems but ruining a good hair day by simply walking from your car to the office is one of the worst. This humidity does not mess around. Bye cute beach waves, hello Afro.
Since I got my color and cut done a couple weeks ago I've been making an effort to wear my hair straight more often. First, it looks awesome with my color and more importantly it makes getting ready in the morning a breeze! But between putting it up and down for shower/run/watching tv like a slob/sleeping/and constantly touching it I look like I went swimming by the end of the day.
Hello grease monkey. And hello Not Your Mother's.

Not Your Mother's

My roommate swore by Clean Freak dry shampoo in college but with its cute packaging I assumed it was on the pricier side of the beauty aisle. To my post grad budget surprise, $4.95 at Target!! And it works like a charm!!
I can't wait to try She's A Tease to shield my locks from this ridiculous humidity.
And I mayyy be making a trip back to Target at lunch to find Beach Babe sea salt spray for when I decide to unleash my waves.

All in all, Not Your Mother's gets the Pekarsk-ing Around gold stamp of approval 10x over.
Now, style on!

I just felt like running

One of my all time favorite movies in my movie basket, in all its VHS glory, is Forrest Gump.
I have literally grown up watching this movie and as the years have gone by I've picked up more and more with every viewing. When I was little I obviously didn't catch a lot of the issues at play or all the life lessons to be learned from Forrest, Jenny, Bubba, Lt. Dan, and Momma.
But as a 24 year old, out in the world, I now see there isn't a scene that doesn't contain wisdom.
ABC News wrote a great article highlighting seven lessons to be learned from the movie and I of course wanted to share it with you!

So remember,
life is like a box of chocolates
if you feel like running just start running
always apologize for ruining "a [your] Black Panther party"
if you're going to say Greenbow Alabama, you better yell it
dying is a part of life
"shit happens"
stupid is as stupid does
and always invest in "a fruit company"

And that's all I have to say about that

Oh say can you see! Weekend Recap: 4th of July 2014

Luke Bryan didn't want this night to end. I didn't want this weekend to end!
I blew out of downtown Thursday night and headed to mom and dad's for some good ole 4th of July fun in the sun!

After everyone slept in, multiple coffees, and patriotic garb was dawned we were ready to party!
Mom had yummies in the oven, I had the pool on lock, and Sophie could have cared less.
After some River Chase fun it was off to Sara's house for a 4th of July BBQ!!

There were hot dogs, hamburgers, pasta salad, beans, chips, dip, beer, and most importantly corn hole!!
We laughed and ate and threw corn hole until the bags literally busted.
Our twenty somethings lives have finally entered this stage of life and I couldn't be happier!

Then it was back to mom and dad's for pool time and mom's 4th of July spread complete with her famous star bars. Sophie and I soaked up the last little bit of sun before it was time to stuff our faces.

I would have to say 4th of July 2014 was an overwhelming success.

Saturday, July 5th, we literally did nothing.
Wal-Mart.
2 OnDemand movies.
Leftovers.

Sunday everyone had finally recovered from their food coma 4th of July hangover. Mom and I took Sophie for a lovely sweltering walk around the neighborhood and then all but stripped down and jumped in the pool. The entire Pekarsky family spent Sunday in the sun and recovered with Jet's pizza and wings for dinner.
All I can say is thank goodness for After Sun, baggy tshirts, and medicated EOS.

And now we rejoin real life.
At least I have star bars for dinner tonight, right?!
